The Ministry of Natural Resources continues its direct engagement with miners and loggers across the country, with Minister Vickram Bharrat reaffirming the government’s commitment to addressing challenges affecting stakeholders in the natural resources sector.

Minister Bharrat made the remarks while speaking with reporters last Friday, following an engagement with mining and forestry stakeholders in Region Six as part of the Ministry’s Open Day initiative.

At the Open Day initiative, Region Six miners and loggers had a one-on-one platform to raise concerns, share recommendations, and work with the ministry to identify and implement practical solutions where possible.

“This is one such outreach, where we would have engaged stakeholders on a one-on-one basis, to listen to their concerns, listen to some of the challenges, suggestions and ideas, and also to see how we can work with them on resolving some of the challenges affecting the forestry and mining sectors,” Minister Bharrat said.

The natural resources minister noted that these direct engagements are important to ensuring the efficient management of the sectors and enabling the ministry to respond proactively to issues affecting miners and loggers.

Meanwhile, the minister highlighted growing interest among Guyanese in entering the mining sector, which is beneficial to the local economy.

He assured stakeholders that follow-up engagements will address specific matters raised during the Region Six outreach and advance practical solutions to the challenges identified.
