The government is pushing to establish dedicated tapeball cricket facilities in every administrative region as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots sports.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charles Ramson Jr. issued the challenge during the launch of the Guyana T10 Tape Ball Blast on Sunday. He urged organisers to work alongside the government to expand access to the growing sport.

“I want one ground in every region to be a dedicated tape ball ground where people can have those pitches and they can go and play tape ball anytime that they want to,” Minister Ramson said.

The sports minister noted that the proposal aligns with the government’s broader investment in community sporting infrastructure and its commitment to increasing participation in sport.

He said dedicated facilities would provide young players with regular opportunities to develop their skills while strengthening community engagement.

The government has consistently supported the Guyana T10 Tape Ball Blast since its inception, viewing the tournament as an important platform for identifying talent and promoting healthy lifestyles.

Minister Ramson reaffirmed the government’s commitment to partnering with organisers to expand the competition and strengthen community sport throughout Guyana.
