Members of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) worked through the night to repair the roofs of affected households and public buildings

Recovery efforts continued through the night along the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), following the severe winds and heavy rainfall that damaged homes and public buildings across several communities.

Response teams have so far engaged more than 70 affected households, with assessments involving affected families ongoing along the coast.

This update was provided by President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali on Thursday via a statement posted on his official social media page.

Repairs have been completed on the roofs of Flora Nursery School, the Department of Education building, and the Guyana Fire Service living quarters in Anna Regina. Temporary covers have been placed on some other affected public buildings, while damage assessments have been completed on others.

Tarpaulins were installed on the roofs of Riverstown Primary School as part of ongoing recovery efforts

Earlier in the operation, tarpaulins were installed on the roofs of Riverstown Primary School and Richmond Nursery, and affected homes received tarpaulins to serve as temporary roof covers overnight.

Seven teams were deployed from Charity to Riverstown and Lima Sands to carry out damage assessments and ensure affected families receive the support they need.

Meanwhile, Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Madanlall Ramraj, and Regional Chairman Devin Mohan visited several affected sites, where zinc sheets were being delivered to help restore homes whose roofs were torn off.
