Colombo, Aug 17: Addressing a program at a Sri Lankan school in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Wednesday, President Ranil Wickremesinghe said the changing children of the island nation will have to learn Hindi and Chinese in the future in order to fit in with the world.
During the program, he also said that there would be a huge change in education in Sri Lanka in the coming future.
President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe said, During the program “We have to introduce new subjects”. The President also said that the children of our country have to learn Chinese and Hindi apart from English if they want to fit in the fast-changing world.
A former British colony, all children in Sri Lanka now only learn English as a second language in their schools.
However, there are also some children who learn Hindi and Chinese in order to appear for university entrance examinations.
