The lights were installed after concerns about poor visibility were raised during a recent visit by Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat.
During an interview with the Department of Public Information (DPI) on Monday, Toshao Gregory Williams said the road was previously very dark, creating challenges for residents and visitors, particularly after sporting events.
The issue was also a concern for visiting athletes, who frequently used the ball field for sporting competitions and activities.
“When we hosted games and players came into the community, they would complain about the darkness along the road after the games,” the toshao noted, stating that, “We thank the minister for responding to that request. Presently, you can walk from the front to the ball field with the lights.”
The installation forms part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for residents in hinterland communities.
