    Thecla Rodrigues, resident

Residents across communities in Region One have welcomed the government’s cabinet outreach, describing the engagement as a meaningful opportunity to interact directly with President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali and cabinet members while highlighting the tangible improvements taking place in their villages.

For each of them, the visit reinforced the government’s commitment to ensuring hinterland communities remain at the centre of Guyana’s development agenda.

Thecla Rodrigues expressed appreciation for the president’s visit, noting that the promises made to residents have consistently been translated into action.

Rodrigues said the improvements to community roads have already made a significant difference to residents’ daily lives and welcomed the president’s commitment to further investments, including additional infrastructure works.

    Herbert La Rose, resident

“We have a very good road now from years ago,” Rodrigues said, adding that she is proud of the changes taking place in the community and the government’s continued support for residents.

Another resident, Herbert LaRose, described the outreach as a success, noting that opportunities for residents to speak directly with the country’s leadership have been rare in the past.

He welcomed President Ali’s plans to improve roads and undertake dredging works to enhance transportation and access within the area.

LaRose believes that improved infrastructure would benefit the community as well as neighbouring villages that rely on the same transportation network for travel and economic activities.

Returning resident Denise Henry, who has visited the area periodically over the years, said the transformation has been remarkable.

Having recently returned after some time, Henry was impressed by the visible growth and development.

“I have seen the growth, the development, and I’m really impressed. I must compliment the government for all that they are doing for the community.”

Alicia Headley of Matthews Ridge said the improvements in infrastructure and public services have positively impacted residents.

She pointed to better roads, education and healthcare as clear examples of the government’s investment in Region One and expressed optimism that development would continue.

“I am so happy about the development that has been going on. There has been great improvement in the road, education, and health. That is something I’m very appreciative of, and I look forward to more development coming our way,” Headley described.
