The Government of Guyana, through the Ministry of Public Works, is honoured to announce that it will once again serve as the host nation for the prestigious International Road Federation (IRF) Caribbean Regional Congress.

Returning to Guyana for the first time since its staging in 2019, the 13th IRF Caribbean Regional Congress will gather world-class transport infrastructure experts, regional leaders, and stakeholders in Georgetown from July 21 to 24, 2026.

This year’s premier transportation event brings together representatives from more than 30 Caribbean countries and territories. Over the four-day programme, the 2026 congress will focus intensely on delivering tangible, actionable answers to modernised transportation demands.

Core focus areas include regional road safety improvements, climate resilience, sustainable infrastructure financing, and preparing regional networks for evolving mobility systems, including large-scale vehicle electrification.

The event expects a diverse delegation, including officials from regional public works ministries, international development banks, engineering consultants, contractors, laboratory researchers, academic pioneers, and dedicated road safety advocates.

Attendees and participants can expect a plethora of topics ranging from Decarbonisation of Road Transport & Clean Energy, Resilient Infrastructure & Disaster Recovery, and Road Safety – Vision Zero for the Caribbean, to Regional Integration & Trans-Border Connectivity as well as Modern Transport Planning & Land Use.

Minister of Public Works, Bishop Juan Edghill, expressed his profound pleasure to host this premier road and transport event on behalf of the Government of Guyana.

Minister Edghill emphasised that Guyana’s selection, at this time, reflects its prominent positioning on the international stage as industry experts, academia, public officials and all relevant stakeholders join this conversation.

The Ministry of Public Works is privileged to facilitate this premier congress, which officially opens on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Atlantic Conference Centre, Pegasus Suites & Corporate Centre in Georgetown.
