Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency, and Implementation, Zulfikar Ally, is encouraging Guyanese abroad to take advantage of the government’s Citizens Connect mobile application, which provides a faster and more transparent way for people to have their concerns addressed by public agencies.

Minister Ally addressing members of the Guyanese diaspora in St. Lucia

On Tuesday evening, the minister told a group of Guyanese living in Saint Lucia that the platform was created to strengthen communication between citizens and government agencies while improving the delivery of public services.

Whether citizens use an Apple or Android device, the application can be downloaded and registered within a minute, allowing users to submit complaints or concerns directly to the relevant government agency.

He said, “For any issue you have, you just put it there directly to the agency where you have the issue, and they have 24 hours in which they have to respond to you and work with you to fix the issue. That is managed directly from my ministry.”

He noted that the platform enables users to track every stage of their complaint, from the time it is submitted until it is resolved, ensuring greater transparency and accountability across the public service.

“Even if I don’t get your issues here today, just download that app and put your issues there. Whether it’s an NIS issue or a land issue, you will be speaking directly with the agency, and you will see from your phone when you put the issue in, when it was directed, who messaged you, and the follow-up, and it goes all the way to the head,” the minister expressed.

He also highlighted the application’s early success, noting that 800 issues have already been resolved since its launch a few months ago.

“The remaining matters involve things like gun licenses that cannot be completed within 24 or 48 hours, but we are engaging with those citizens, and at least they have an explanation from the government,” he said.
