As the government continues to advance major investments in school infrastructure, a new modern facility is currently under construction at the Annandale Secondary School along the East Coast of Demerara.
Providing an update on the project, Member of Parliament Suresh Singh said on Thursday the facility is expected to significantly expand the school’s capacity and provide students with access to improved learning spaces and specialised laboratories.
The new facility will be a 70-metre-long and 40 to 50-foot-wide building that will accommodate science, home economics, industrial technology and agricultural laboratories, along with a theatre, arts room and additional classrooms.

According to MP Singh, the facility is expected to benefit students from Annandale as well as children from several communities across the East Coast of Demerara that form part of the school’s catchment area, including Buxton, Friendship, and other surrounding communities.
MP Singh noted that the investment forms part of the government’s broader development programme for the education sector, particularly at the secondary school level, as it continues to improve and expand facilities nationwide.
