Patients at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) will soon benefit from faster and more advanced diagnostic services as a brand-new computed tomography (CT) scanner is currently being installed at the institution.

The state-of-the-art machine will replace the hospital’s previous scanner and is expected to become operational within the next week.

CT scanners play a critical role in modern medicine, providing detailed images of internal organs, bones, blood vessels and tissues.

The new system will allow doctors to diagnose conditions more quickly and accurately, supporting timely treatment for patients suffering from trauma injuries, strokes, cancers, cardiovascular diseases and other serious medical conditions.

The upgraded technology is also expected to reduce waiting times for diagnostic imaging, improve workflow efficiency, and increase the number of patients who can be served daily.

With clearer imaging and faster processing speeds, healthcare professionals will be better equipped to make informed clinical decisions, ultimately leading to improved patient outcomes.

The installation forms part of the government’s ongoing investments to modernise Guyana’s healthcare sector and represents another significant step toward building a stronger, more resilient healthcare system that delivers high-quality care to all Guyanese.
