The Small Business Bureau (SBB) recently conducted a series of business development training programmes in Region 2, aimed at strengthening the skills, competitiveness, and market readiness of entrepreneurs in Essequibo.

The training initiative included sessions in Bid Document Preparation, Digital Readiness, and Label Design. A total of 65 persons benefited from the Bid Document Preparation training, while 25 persons participated in the Digital Readiness and Label Design sessions.

The Bid Document Preparation training was conducted in collaboration with the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) at the Essequibo Technical Institute. Participants were guided through key stages of the tendering process, including understanding bid documents, meeting compliance requirements, and preparing competitive submissions.

The practical session equipped small business owners with the knowledge and confidence needed to pursue government procurement opportunities and compete more effectively for contracts.

The Digital Readiness and Label Design sessions focused on helping entrepreneurs improve their branding, promotional materials, and product presentation. Participants received practical guidance on creating professional marketing materials and developing clear, compliant, and market-ready product labels.

Chief Executive Officer of the Small Business Bureau, Mohamed Shazim Ibrahim, highlighted the importance of bringing targeted business development support directly to entrepreneurs in regional communities.

“Our responsibility is to ensure that small business owners, regardless of where they operate, have access to the knowledge and tools needed to compete and grow. These training programmes address practical challenges entrepreneurs face, from navigating procurement opportunities to presenting and promoting their products more professionally. By taking this support directly to Essequibo, we are helping businesses build stronger foundations and position themselves for sustainable growth,” he stated.

The initiative forms part of the Bureau’s continued efforts to expand access to practical training and business development support across Guyana. By strengthening procurement readiness, digital capabilities, branding, and product presentation, the SBB is helping entrepreneurs improve their competitiveness and access new market opportunities.

This series of business development training programmes in Region 2, aligns with the Government’s broader economic agenda to support small enterprises through targeted capacity building, expanded market access, and inclusive regional development. It represents one of the practical ways in which Government budgetary allocations are translated into tangible benefits for entrepreneurs across Guyana, providing them with the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to strengthen and grow their businesses.

Through strategic partnerships and practical training, the Small Business Bureau continues to empower entrepreneurs and support the sustainable growth of small businesses across Guyana.
