The Ministry of Health, through the National AIDS Programme Secretariat (NAPS), has taken another significant step toward strengthening Guyana’s HIV response by inviting proposals to review the current National HIV Strategic Plan and develop a new roadmap to guide the country’s efforts through 2031.

The consultancy will assess the implementation of HIVISION 2025, Guyana’s National HIV Strategic Plan for 2021-2025, and support the creation of HIVISION 2031, which will chart the country’s HIV response from 2026 to 2031.

The initiative forms part of Guyana’s commitment to ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2031, in keeping with international targets outlined by UNAIDS and the country’s broader health and development agenda.

Under the consultancy, experts will review the achievements, challenges and gaps of HIVISION 2025, update Guyana’s national HIV epidemiological profile, and engage stakeholders through consultations, key informant interviews and site visits across the country

The successful consultant or consultancy firm will also be responsible for drafting and finalising HIVISION 2031, ensuring that the new strategy reflects current realities and emerging priorities in HIV prevention, treatment, care and support services.

The Ministry of Health is seeking applicants with expertise in public health, epidemiology, health policy and HIV programme planning. Consultants are also expected to have experience working with key and vulnerable populations and familiarity with the UNAIDS Global AIDS Strategy.

The consultancy will be conducted over 60 days, with proposals due by June 26.

The development of HIVISION 2031 is expected to strengthen Guyana’s national response to HIV and support continued progress toward achieving an AIDS-free future.
