Region Three residents are set to benefit from the expansion and construction of major road networks and upgraded school facilities as part of the Regional Democratic Council’s (RDC) capital expenditure programmes.

The RDC is seeking eligible contractors to construct four reinforced concrete (RC) bridges, each valued at approximately $18 million.

These include the construction of a reinforced concrete bridge at Temple Street in Windsor Forest; another bridge linking Windsor Forest to La Jalousie; a bridge at Back Street in Ruimzeight, and a bridge at School Street, Goed Fortuin.

These important road networks will enable residents to navigate heavily congested traffic areas with ease.

In addition, bids are being invited for the construction of Ballfield Road connecting to 2nd Street in Parika, with an engineer’s estimate of $26 million.

On Education, the RDC is also tendering for the construction of government quarters at an estimated cost of $27.6 million, along with an extension of the West Demerara Secondary School at Vreed-en-Hoop, valued at $48.6 million.

The region will also extend and upgrade 11 nursery schools.

Interested bidders can inspect the bidding documents and obtain further information from the Engineer’s Department at the Regional Administration Office in Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara.

Bid documents are available for a non-refundable fee of $3,000 and can be uplifted from the Regional Administration Office. Payments must be made in cash.

Bids must be submitted in plain sealed envelopes bearing no identification of the bidder, with the project name clearly marked at the top left-hand corner.

Submissions must be addressed to the Chairman of the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB), Ministry of Finance, Main and Urquhart Streets, Georgetown, and deposited in the tender box no later than 09:00h on Tuesday, May 19.

The bids will be opened at 09:00h on the same day in the NPTAB boardroom in the presence of bidders or their representatives who choose to attend.

All bidders are required to submit valid compliance certificates from the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) and the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA). Projects exceeding $3 million must also be accompanied by bid securities as outlined in the bidding documents.
