The senior minister in the Office of the President, Dr. Ashni Singh, who is responsible for Finance, has announced that January 17 will mark Guyana’s National Budget Day.

Although engaged by local media on Wednesday, Dr. Singh refrained from sharing any specifics about this year’s fiscal package.

President Dr. Irfaan Ali hinted at ambitious plans for the upcoming year in his New Year’s address. He emphasized the rollout of transformative projects, and the launch of innovative initiatives designed to propel Guyana’s development and create a surge of new opportunities.

Last year, Guyana unveiled its largest budget to date, amounting to $1.146 trillion—a significant 46.6% increase from the previous year. Notably, the 2023 budget was fully funded without the introduction of new taxes.
