A woman from East Coast Demerara appeared in court on charges of falsely spreading online information about the Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, Mr. Deodat Indar.

The 43-year-old accused, Raywattie “Annie” Khamraj of Richardstown, Lusignan, East Coast, Demerara, was charged with using an electronic platform to spread misinformation about the government minister.

Police reported that the incident occurred on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, and involved the publication of statements that are alleged to be knowingly false.

    Court Appearance and Charge

Khamraj appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Friday, November 21, 2025, where she was formally charged under Section 19(3)(b) of the Cybercrime Act of 2018. This section addresses the deliberate use of digital systems to transmit false information.

She denied the allegations when the charge was filed and pleaded not guilty.

    Bail and Legal Conditions

The court approved bail of $150,000 and scheduled the next hearing for December 17, 2025.As part of her bail conditions, Khemraj is required to:

    • Surrender her passport
    • Refrain from making posts or engaging in commentary on social media platforms
    • Report to the police station on the final Friday of each month

    Ongoing Probe

Authorities have confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing as they continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the online publication.

In Guyana, many social media followers seem to think they can abuse public figures without facing any consequences. This incident clearly shows how public figures, including the Minister, have decided that enough is enough.

It seems that many frustrated people in Guyana use social media platforms to falsely attack public figures for entertainment, to show off to their online peers, and to boast about their fake news accomplishments. These naive individuals who think they are important will face the rule of law in Guyana, and if found guilty, they will face the consequences. Let this stand as a warning to other Guyanese fools seeking 15 minutes of fame in their miserable lives. These individuals will be exposed nationwide.

Minister Deodat Indar has the legal right to defend and protect his reputation and dignity from this 15-minute fame-seeker, Raywattie “Annie” Khamraj.
