GUYANA’S aviation industry continues to experience growing private-sector investment, with Jags Aviation Inc., a member of the BK Group of Companies, adding a brand-new Bell 407 helicopter to its fleet in a move that signals increasing confidence in the country’s expanding aviation market.
The helicopter, valued at more than $1 billion, was officially commissioned on Monday by Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, Deodat Indar.
During the commissioning ceremony, Minister Indar said the investment aligns with President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s vision of developing a modern and expanded aviation sector capable of supporting Guyana’s rapid economic transformation and growing transportation requirements.

He highlighted the increasing number of aircraft being registered locally, noting that more than 110 locally registered aircraft are now operating in the industry. According to the minister, the trend reflects growing investor confidence and a willingness among private operators to capitalise on the opportunities emerging across the country.
Indar also pointed to a changing investment pattern within the sector, explaining that operators are increasingly acquiring brand-new aircraft rather than relying on refurbished or previously owned equipment.
He described the addition of the Bell 407 as an important indication of the industry’s readiness to support Guyana’s next phase of development.
“This particular asset sends a signal that we are gearing ourselves up for the transformation of the country,” the minister said.
The minister further called on the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to maintain close engagement with Jags Aviation to facilitate the completion of all regulatory procedures required before the helicopter begins commercial operations. He stressed that compliance with aviation regulations and the maintenance of the highest safety standards must remain a priority.
GCAA Director General Egbert Field welcomed the acquisition, noting that the new helicopter would strengthen air transportation services, particularly for passengers travelling to hinterland communities and remote airstrips.

He said the additional aircraft would also contribute to the development of Guyana’s tourism sector by improving accessibility to destinations that depend heavily on air transportation.
Field reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to working alongside Jags Aviation to ensure that all technical, operational and regulatory requirements are met before the aircraft is cleared for full commercial service.
The commissioning ceremony was also attended by BK International Founder and Chairman Brian Tiwari.
The latest acquisition comes as Guyana continues to invest in expanding its aviation infrastructure and capacity, with the private sector playing an increasingly important role in strengthening connectivity, supporting economic activities and improving access to communities across the country.
