Gabriel (HK) Lall, a figure known in Guyana and its diaspora, is widely perceived as a political exhibitionist and opportunist. Despite being a commentator on various Guyanese issues, he is criticized for lacking substantial knowledge of the subjects he discusses. His primary objective appears to be attacking the PPP party and its leaders. Often labelled as an alleged political observer, he is accused of constructing mere fantasies.
Questions surrounding the meaning of Lall’s name, especially “Lall,” have intrigued English journalists and colleagues in London. While Gabriel’s origin is understood, the ambiguity of “Lall” prompts inquiries. For clarity, it is revealed that “Lall” translates to “Red” in Hindi-Urdu/Sanskrit. This information may dispel any confusion regarding his name, with hopes that he won’t be colloquially referred to as “Gabriel Red.”
The big question to ask Gabriel Lall is, who does he represent? The PPP Leadership represents the voters. The PNC party represents the voters. Gabriel Lall represents himself. ONE VOTE ONLY. Do we care about him telling us about racism, our Oil and Gas industry, and now about Venezuela claiming Essequibo? The answer is simple. We do not want political jokers in Guyana. If Gabriel Lall cares about Guyana and then starts a new party and stands as a candidate, then someone will listen to Gabriel Lall, but if not, your views are irrelevant to the people of Guyana.
Wait a minute, we have a brilliant idea: why don’t Gabriel Lall and Glenn Lall form a New Political Party together? Both have the same surname, “Lall,” and a common enemy, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, and both can challenge the PPP party. Let’s see whether they can win a general election against the PPP or the PNC party. These two “Lalls” must understand one thing about democracy: the voters decide, not Gabriel Lall and Glenn Lall. Writing a newspaper or magazine column will not determine the general election results. The Guyanese are intelligent voters and do not need column writers to lecture them while voting.
In a recent outburst concerning the Guyana-Venezuela crisis, Gabriel Lall surprised many with his stance. Contrary to expectations of defending Guyana, Gabriel Lall, writing in Kaieteur News, seemingly sided with Venezuela’s dictator, Maduro.
GHK Lall, in his column, allegedly urges Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela: “All things considered, it may have been concluded by him [Maduro] that it is better to seize the moment and deliver what has eluded all other Venezuelan leaders for many lifetimes… In other words, take a chance, and deal with the consequences later.”
This is a diabolical statement from one person band telling the entire population that Venezuela should go ahead with its plan to annex the Essequibo region. This is one of the most heinous, obnoxious, and unpatriotic statements from Gabriel Lall. The people of Guyana will remember this statement, and this man must be subjected to the rule of law in Guyana.
Concerns have arisen, suggesting that Gabriel Lall’s statements might be considered treasonable, potentially inciting panic and harm. The seriousness of such allegations necessitates a thorough investigation, particularly as they hint at supporting actions that could jeopardize national security.
The gravity of free speech transforms into treason when it involves shaping narratives that support potential invasion, especially during a period of national vulnerability. Conscience becomes pivotal in discerning acceptable speech and writing from that resembling a beast devoid of moral considerations.
Given the context of Guyana, citizens must take specific actions to safeguard national interests. Firstly, assurance must be provided that there will be no invasion, supported by international intervention against any such attempts. Secondly, emphasis should be placed on upholding Guyana’s sovereignty in line with international law. Educating the public about the motives of external actors, particularly dictators resorting to desperate measures becomes a responsibility. Understanding the broader geopolitical context is crucial for informed public discourse. A united front is imperative to raise awareness and protect the homeland from external threats.
Amidst concerns about the Maduro gimmick referendum and claims over the entirety of Essequibo, Gabriel Lall is criticized for failing as a voice when the Guyanese people needed support. His apparent bias against Dr. Bharat Jagdeo and the PPP party led him to neglect his responsibility to stand with the people against Maduro. Consequently, the citizens of Guyana are now aware of Gabriel Lall’s alleged comments and have formed opinions about his stance.
The leader of the Opposition party in Guyana, Mr. Aubrey Norton, is standing side by side with the government against Venezuela’s illegal claim of the region of Essequibo. On the other hand, Gabriel Lall allegedly advocates that Guyana is doomed to fail against the alleged Venezuelan offensive and that Guyana should give up. His defeatist attitude is mind blogging.
99.9 % of Guyanese disagree with Gabriel Lall’s defeatist comments and do not need him to defend and support their beautiful country. Gabriel Lall has crossed the red line, and the people of Guyana will not forgive his stupidity and comments at a time when they need support against the dictator of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro.
In conclusion, the delicate balance between free speech and treason necessitates meticulously examining the situation. When speech or writing poses a genuine threat to national security, promptly addressing the issue and subjecting it to legal scrutiny becomes imperative. The gravity of the situation demands a careful evaluation of the alleged statements made by Gabriel Lall to determine if treason charges are warranted.
