Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday attended a ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ event in Delhi, joining young participants for an evening that blended traditional devotional music with a modern, concert-style atmosphere. The event was held at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Park to mark the birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
Videos from the event showed Modi seated among the audience, listening to devotional performances, clapping along and playing a small percussion instrument. He also waved to the gathering as he arrived at the venue.
One of the highlights of the evening was a performance by singer Sadhu Tiwari, known for his work in the film Hanuman Ansh. Tiwari performed the popular devotional song “Jab Zid Par Aa Gayi Parvati”, popularly referred to as Parvati. Modi was seen enjoying the performance and keeping rhythm with a khanjari-like instrument.
The programme brought together devotional music and a younger audience, reflecting the growing popularity of the ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ format. Such events typically present traditional bhajans and devotional songs in a concert-like setting, with live music and energetic audience participation.
Modi has previously spoken about the trend. During Mann Ki Baat in January, he described bhajan clubbing as a combination of devotion, culture, spirituality and modernity that has found resonance among Gen Z.
The Delhi event also featured a performance by Hanuman Ansh director Vishal Chaturvedi, adding to the evening’s focus on contemporary presentations of devotional music.
The event quickly attracted attention online, with videos of the Prime Minister participating in the musical gathering circulating widely on social media.
