The Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning will host the National Youth Skills Forum and Skills Search Expo 2026 on Wednesday.

It will bring together employers, educators, training institutions, industry leaders, and young people to discuss the skills needed to support national development.

The event will be held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC) from 9:00 to 4:00 hours under the theme of strengthening the country’s workforce through skills development and industry collaboration.

Director General in the Ministry of Labour, Joseph Hamilton, and BIT’s Chief Executive Officer, Richard Maughn, along with students participating in a heavy-duty machinery training course in Region Six.

Additionally, there will be panel discussions that will focus on workforce readiness, apprenticeships, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), industry partnerships, and the evolving needs of the labour market.

Participants will also hear directly from professionals across various sectors about the skills employers are looking for.

Running alongside the forum, the Skills Search Expo will feature displays from government agencies, training institutions and private sector organisations.

It will allow attendees to explore career opportunities, learn about training programmes and engage with potential employers.

The initiative forms part of the ministry’s efforts to promote lifelong learning, strengthen the link between education and employment, and build a skilled, competitive workforce capable of meeting the needs of Guyana’s expanding economy.

Students, job seekers, parents, educators, employers, and members of the public are encouraged to attend. Admission is free.
