On Sunday evening, Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali was recognised on the international stage, receiving the Visionary Leadership Award from the Bilateral Chamber at a ceremony in Houston, Texas.
The award recognises President Ali’s leadership in guiding Guyana through a period of rapid transformation, particularly through advances in responsible energy development, strengthened regional cooperation, and policies promoting long-term national growth. According to the Office of the President, the honour reflects his role in positioning Guyana as a rising force in the global energy sector while maintaining a focus on sustainability.
The ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 2026 Offshore Technology Conference, where President Ali also delivered the keynote opening address, firmly placing Guyana in the spotlight at one of the world’s premier offshore energy gatherings.
Organisers highlighted that the recognition signals growing international confidence in Guyana’s development trajectory. As one of the world’s fastest-growing oil producers, the country is increasingly regarded as a model for balancing hydrocarbon expansion with climate resilience and broader economic diversification.
The Bilateral Chamber, which presented the award, plays a key role in connecting governments, corporations, and institutions across sectors, including energy, infrastructure, finance, healthcare, education, and technology. Through these partnerships, it aims to foster collaboration and drive sustainable economic progress worldwide.
The honour adds to Guyana’s expanding international profile as the country continues to attract investment and build strategic alliances while navigating its emergence as a major energy player.
