Donald Trump said he remained calm and was “not worried” during the shooting incident that disrupted a press dinner event in Washington, D.C., even as security personnel quickly moved to secure the area and protect attendees.

The incident occurred near the venue hosting a gathering of journalists, political leaders, and invited guests. According to officials, an armed suspect opened fire outside the event perimeter, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement and security agencies. The suspect was swiftly restrained before gaining access to the main hall, preventing what authorities believe could have been a more serious situation.

Speaking to reporters afterward, Trump praised the rapid action of the security teams and emphasized that the individual never came close to the main event space. He stated that he felt confident in the preparedness and professionalism of the officers on duty, adding that their quick response ensured the safety of everyone present.

Authorities have indicated that the suspect may have been targeting high-profile figures attending the dinner, though investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact motive. Security agencies are reviewing surveillance footage, background information, and communication records to understand how the individual approached the secured area and whether there were any accomplices.

The incident has reignited discussions about security arrangements for large public events involving senior political leaders. Experts have called for enhanced screening procedures, stronger perimeter controls, and increased coordination among law enforcement agencies to prevent similar incidents in the future. Fortunately, no major injuries were reported, and the event concluded under tight security as officials reassured the public about ongoing safety measures.
