A powerful explosion in New Delhi on Monday evening killed at least eight people and injured several others, prompting top government officials to promise swift action against those responsible. The blast occurred near the Red Fort area, one of the city’s busiest zones, causing chaos as flames engulfed vehicles and shattered nearby shop windows. Emergency services rushed to the site, while police and forensic teams began their investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh condemned the attack, stating that those behind the blast “will not be spared,” and assured that the government would take strict measures to bring the perpetrators to justice. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the loss of lives and directed authorities to provide all necessary assistance to the injured and their families.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered a high-level inquiry and deployed teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and National Security Guard (NSG) to assist Delhi Police. Preliminary reports suggest the blast may have originated from an explosive device hidden in a parked vehicle, though officials are yet to confirm this. Security has been tightened across the capital, and states have been placed on alert as investigators analyze CCTV footage and forensic evidence.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as smoke filled the area, with local residents and shopkeepers helping emergency teams rescue victims. Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading rumors on social media as the investigation continues. The incident has once again raised concerns about urban security and preparedness in India’s capital, with the government emphasizing that justice will be served swiftly.
