    Dr Irfaan Ali and Vice President Dr Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo have continued Guyana’s drive to strengthen international partnerships through a series of high-level meetings with visiting delegations from the United States and India. The discussions centred on expanding cooperation in areas including investment, trade, energy, technology, security, and economic development.

    Vice President Dr Jagdeo met with a visiting delegation from the United States comprising representatives from several sectors, including business, technology, aviation, housing, logistics, and security. During the engagement, both sides exchanged views on opportunities to deepen bilateral relations and explore new avenues for collaboration that can contribute to Guyana’s continued growth and transformation. The discussions reflected the increasing importance of Guyana as a strategic partner in the region and highlighted the mutual interest in strengthening economic and commercial ties.

    Meanwhile, President Dr Ali welcomed an advance delegation from India as preparations continue for the official visit of India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The meeting brought together senior Government officials and members of the Indian delegation to discuss ways of further enhancing the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

    President Dr Ali underscored Guyana’s commitment to building stronger international partnerships and identified several priority areas for collaboration, including energy, agriculture, infrastructure, finance, trade, and public sector modernisation. Both sides expressed optimism about expanding cooperation in these sectors and creating new opportunities that will benefit the people of both nations.

    The Indian delegation was led by Sudhakar Dalela, Secretary of Economic Relations in India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and included other senior officials involved in advancing bilateral relations. Discussions centred on strengthening economic ties, promoting investment opportunities, and identifying practical areas for collaboration between Guyana and India to achieve shared development goals.

    Vice President Dr Jagdeo also held separate talks with the Indian delegation, during which the parties explored opportunities for enhanced cooperation and reaffirmed the strong historical and cultural bonds that have long connected Guyana and India. The discussions emphasised the importance of maintaining close diplomatic and economic relations as both countries seek to expand their partnership in the years ahead.

    The meetings with the American and Indian delegations demonstrate the Government’s ongoing efforts to position Guyana as a key international partner, attract investment, foster economic growth, and build strategic relationships that underpin the country’s long-term development agenda.
