-to support MV Barima tragedy survivors, bereaved families
President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali has formally established the HEART Initiative — Hope, Empathy, Aid, Resilience and Trust — as a national framework to provide sustained support to survivors and bereaved families of the MV Barima tragedy.
According to the Office of the President, the initiative is designed to guide families through healing.
President Ali brought together humanitarian assistance, psychosocial and trauma counselling, social services, spiritual guidance and other forms of support.
Importantly, this assistance is not intended as compensation, but as an expression of the nation’s enduring commitment to stand beside survivors and bereaved families for as long as necessary.
