Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d), Mark Phillips, met Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness, who arrived in Guyana on Thursday for a four-day official visit to strengthen bilateral relations and advance cooperation between the two Caribbean nations.
Prime Minister Holness is expected to hold discussions with Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali and other government officials on a range of issues over the four days.
Areas of engagement are expected to include agriculture, energy, trade and investment, as well as matters of regional significance.
The visit is also expected to reinforce the longstanding friendship and partnership between the two Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member states.
As part of his itinerary, PM Holness is also scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of the International Building Expo 2026, which begins on Thursday afternoon at the National Stadium.
He was welcomed at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport by PM Phillips.
The Jamaican prime minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes Jamaica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, and Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Aubyn Hill.
The official visit comes as Guyana and Jamaica continue to explore opportunities for expanded collaboration in areas critical to economic growth and regional development.
