Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Indian-origin tech entrepreneurs and community members in Johannesburg during his visit for the G20 Leaders’ Summit. During the interaction, Modi called the discussion “fruitful” and appreciated their achievements across sectors such as fintech, agritech, education, healthcare, and digital platforms. He encouraged the entrepreneurs to deepen their collaboration with India and explore new avenues for investment, innovation, and technology development. Modi also urged the Indian diaspora to continue promoting Indian culture globally, including yoga and Ayurveda, strengthening India’s soft power and cultural presence abroad. The entrepreneurs expressed admiration for India’s rapid progress in the digital and technology landscape and showed interest in exploring greater partnerships with Indian startups and institutions. This engagement highlighted India’s growing focus on diaspora-led innovation, global collaboration, and strengthening India–Africa ties in emerging technologies and development.
