Residents of St. Denys/ Tapakuma village will soon benefit from improved administrative services as a new village office is being constructed with government support under the capital grant and the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs.
The modern facility is expected to enhance governance, improve record-keeping and provide a more comfortable environment for residents accessing village services.
The community will utilise an additional $6 million from the village’s 2025 Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) fund to complete phase two of the village office.

Speaking to the Department of Public Information(DPI) on Thursday, Toshao Keanu Thomas said that the current office no longer adequately serves the needs of the growing community, particularly when conducting meetings and addressing residents’ concerns.
The new building will provide additional space for administrative work, secure storage of important village documents and a more welcoming setting for public engagement.
Toshao Thomas explained that the project forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local governance and ensure future leaders have access to modern facilities to effectively serve residents.
The project is one of several community development ventures undertaken through government-funded capital grants to improve infrastructure and services in the village.
