More than 320 young people have graduated from the Guyana Police Force (GPF) ZARA Computer Centre training programme.
They gained practical digital skills during the GPF’s annual summer programme.
The graduates were recognised at the Annual Summer Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, at the Police Officers’ Mess Annexe at Eve Leary, Georgetown.
The ceremony brought together graduates from the Georgetown and Cove and John campuses with their families, instructors, special guests and well-wishers.

Delivering the feature address, founder of the ZARA Computer Centres, Dr Jay Sobhraj, highlighted the longstanding partnership between the centres and the GPF, which he said has contributed significantly to the programme’s success over the past 15 years.
He further added that there are now almost 20 ZARA Computer Centres across Guyana, with more than 2,800 participants benefiting from this year’s summer programmes.
Moreover, the Georgetown campus produced more than 150 graduates, while 171 students graduated from the Cove and John campus.
The students completed programmes aimed at equipping them with practical computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Paint, keyboard and mouse operations, typing and document editing.

The initiative aims to equip young people with foundational digital skills that can support their education and future employment.
The programme also featured musical and dance performances by students, while several graduates received recognition for their outstanding performance.
Meanwhile, this annual summer programme forms part of the government’s and ZARA Computer Centres’ effort to expand access to computer education among young people across the country.
