The Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) is now focusing on developing new tourism circuits in Regions One, Six, and Eight.
A tourism circuit is a group of tourism attractions, communities, activities and destinations that are connected and promoted as one travel route or experience.
For example, instead of a tourist visiting only one village in Region One, a tourism circuit could connect several villages and attractions in the Moruca and Mabaruma areas.

In a recent interview with the Department of Public Information (DPI), GTA’s Director Kamrul Baksh noted that the agency continues to assist Amerindian communities in developing their tourism products.
Baksh said a great deal of time had been spent in communities, particularly in the newer circuits. In Region One, the focus has been on the Moruca and Mabaruma sub-districts, where the GTA partnered with Conservation International to conduct baseline assessments in several communities.
He said the Authority also focused heavily on the Region Eight circuit. While in Region Six, teams visited several communities, including Orealla and Siparuta. So far, more than 60 communities have been supported by the GTA.
He noted that support was also given through capacity-building workshops and the launching of several tourism products.
More than 18 communities were assisted to launch their tourism products over the last six years. There are plans for the remainder of the year to conduct more community outreach.
