Vice-President Bharrat Jagdeo’s comments on the timeline and distribution process of the $200,000 cash grant initiative have been misrepresented by Kaieteur News, which once again published inaccurate and fake information.
President Dr. Irfaan Ali recently announced that this grant, part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance citizens’ quality of life, will inject $60 billion of disposable income into households across the nation, providing much-needed relief.
In a recent interview, Dr Jagdeo emphasized that the government is committed to implementing a secure and equitable grant distribution system. He explained that while the process could take up to five months to complete, it might be done sooner. The timeline is designed to ensure proper planning and minimize risks of fraud or system errors.
However, Kaieteur News distorted this information, falsely claiming that the grant distribution would not begin until after Christmas and misquoting Dr Jagdeo as saying, “In five months, we will be ready to distribute.” This misleading report misrepresents Dr Jagdeo’s clarification that while the distribution process may take up to five months, efforts are being made to complete it as quickly as possible.
Dr Jagdeo emphasized that the government is meticulously ensuring that every eligible household receives the grant without system flaws or misuse of taxpayer money. He reassured the public that the distribution would proceed in an orderly manner, with the Ministry of Finance and the Audit Office overseeing the process to ensure accountability and proper verification.
Despite Kaieteur News’ repeated inaccuracies, Dr Jagdeo and the government remain focused on transparently and timely delivering this vital financial relief to all eligible Guyanese households.
Finally, Glenn Lall is up to his old tricks again. No one takes this man seriously in Guyana and abroad because he represents no voters. He is not a qualified journalist but pretends to be. Someone must tell him journalism is for those who studied it at the University. Selling “Trousers clothes, and pants lengths” does not qualify him as a journalist. Only a few politicians in Guyana accept Glenn Lall’s gimmicks and nonsense. Dr. Jagdeo should completely ignore this buffoon who is a disgrace to journalism, giving a bad name to good genuine journalists in Guyana.
