Boxing legend Mary Kom has found herself at the centre of a public controversy after accusing her former husband of stealing her money, a claim that was swiftly met with a sharp counter-allegation from him that she had been unfaithful during their marriage.

In recent statements, Mary Kom alleged that her ex-husband misappropriated her earnings, including prize money and savings accumulated over the course of her illustrious boxing career. She claimed that financial irregularities came to light after their separation, prompting her to speak out and seek legal recourse. The boxer reportedly maintained that she had trusted her husband with her finances and felt betrayed when she discovered the alleged misuse.

Responding to these accusations, her former husband denied any wrongdoing and instead levelled serious allegations against Mary Kom. He claimed that their marriage broke down due to her alleged extramarital relationship, stating that “she was having an affair,” a charge that has added a deeply personal dimension to what was initially a financial dispute. He insisted that the allegations of theft were an attempt to deflect attention from the real reasons behind their separation.

The exchange of accusations has sparked intense public and media scrutiny, with fans and commentators expressing shock at the very public nature of the dispute involving one of India’s most respected sportspersons. Legal experts note that such cases often become complicated when personal grievances, financial matters, and public reputations intersect.

So far, Mary Kom has not publicly responded in detail to the allegations of infidelity, while maintaining her stand on the financial claims. The matter is expected to be addressed through appropriate legal channels, with both sides standing firm on their respective versions of events.

As the situation unfolds, observers have urged restraint and respect for privacy, noting that the dispute remains a personal and legal matter. Until courts or investigators establish the facts, the claims and counter-claims remain allegations, underscoring the importance of due process in resolving such sensitive conflicts.
