More than 204,000 Guyanese have completed government transactions through service centres now operating in six regions, sparing them the time and cost of travelliing to Georgetown for important services like the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) and General Register Office (GRO).

The rollout began in Leonora, Region Three last December and has since expanded to Regions Two, Five, Six, Seven and Nine.

Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, Zulfikar Ally

This was highlighted by the Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, Zulfikar Ally, during a recent interview with the Department of Public Information (DPI).

The centres are a one-stop shop where citizens and residents can access a wide range of public services, official documents, and administrative support from different government departments under one roof.

These include Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA), General Register Office (GRO), Central Immigration and Passport Office (CIPO and ndles enrolment and issuance for the national E-ID programme.

“It saves them time and money,” Minister Ally said. He added that the centres provide “reliability and predictability in the everyday movement of our citizens.”

Following Leonora, service centres launched in Fort Wellington, Region Five in February; Anna Regina, Region Two in April; Port Mourant, Region Six in May, and Lethem in July.

A sixth centre in Bartica, Region Seven was launched last week.
