Guyana’s rapid economic transformation and its expanding role as a regional leader are once again in the international spotlight, following the release of a special edition of a Dominican Republic-based energy magazine.
The cover of Energía e Hidrocarburos Plus (EH+) – a multimedia platform specialising in the energy, hydrocarbons and fuel sectors in the Dominican Republic and the wider Caribbean – features President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali and highlights Guyana’s emergence as “one of the most influential investment and energy destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
The publication, designated by President Ali as the “Magazine of Guyana” for the 2026–2027 period, provides extensive coverage of the country’s unprecedented growth, expanding energy sector, and strengthening partnership with the Dominican Republic.
It was officially launched on Wednesday evening at the Pegasus Suites and Corporate Centre in Kingston, Georgetown.

According to the publication’s Editor-in-Chief, Idalia Cabrera, the edition represents a historic milestone for the magazine and the region. It is the first time a sitting foreign president has appeared on the cover of a specialised Dominican magazine.

Cabrera described the feature as a “reflection of a Caribbean region undergoing significant transformation,” driven by new leadership, deeper regional cooperation, and an evolving energy landscape that extends beyond national borders.
The magazine underscores President Ali’s role in positioning Guyana at the centre of a new regional dynamic built on energy development, economic growth, and strategic partnerships. It notes that Guyana’s development model demonstrates how resource wealth can be leveraged to advance social progress, sustainability, and regional integration simultaneously.
Over the last several years, Guyana has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, attracting billions of dollars in investments across the oil and gas, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, and services sectors.
The special edition also examines the growing relationship between Guyana and the Dominican Republic, highlighting opportunities for trade, investment, logistics, energy cooperation, and private sector collaboration.
Cabrera emphasised that the edition serves as an invitation for regional stakeholders to better understand the opportunities emerging from Guyana’s transformation and the broader Caribbean energy future.
