Guyana is set to host the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s (CTO) flagship State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC) this October, as announced by Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Susan Rodrigues during her presentation at the 2026 National Budget debates on Tuesday. She highlighted that SOTIC is the region’s most influential forum for tourism stakeholders, attracting participants from across the Caribbean and the international tourism community. According to Minister Rodrigues, hosting the event reinforces Guyana’s growing stature as a key destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. It underscores the country’s expanding role in shaping the region’s tourism future.
Since she was appointed Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues has been actively promoting Guyana on the global stage. She has clearly demonstrated her ability to manage the tourism portfolio entrusted to her by the President. Since the beginning of the year, the Minister has been highly engaged in the sector, consistently working to advance its growth and visibility. Her energy, commitment, and hands-on approach suggest that she is well-suited to the role and genuinely made to lead this important industry.
