On Monday, January 26, the Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh, will present Guyana’s 2026 National Budget, a highly anticipated fiscal roadmap for the country’s next phase of development.

Budget 2026 will be the first to be laid before the National Assembly by the current administration following its re-election in September 2025. As such, it is expected to set out the Government’s renewed mandate, outlining its core policy priorities and economic vision for the new term.

The upcoming budget is widely expected to build on the broad fiscal foundation established in the 2025 National Budget, which totalled G$1.382 trillion and was framed under the theme “A Secure, Prosperous and Sustainable Guyana.” That budget underscored the Government’s commitment to using oil revenues to fast-track national development, strengthen social safety nets, and upgrade critical infrastructure.

With Budget 2026, the administration is expected to further advance its long-term strategy of balancing economic growth with social inclusion, ensuring that the benefits of Guyana’s expanding economy continue to translate into improved living standards, resilient institutions, and sustainable development outcomes across the country.
