The impact of the APNU/AFC Party on the country’s socioeconomic fabric was disastrous and abysmal

Today, the opposition party has no answers to the economic, social, and cultural progress made in the country by the PPP/C government of President Irfaan Ali, Vice-President Bharrat Jagdeo, and Prime Minister Mark Phillips.

During the ongoing 2024 budget debates in the National Assembly, Mr  Kwame McCoy, Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for Public Affairs, emphasized that the PPP\C Government successfully revived the livelihoods of Guyanese that had suffered during the APNU+AFC reign from 2015 to 2020.

In his contribution to the debates, Minister McCoy highlighted the opposition’s tendency to boast about unfulfilled promises, particularly during their time in power when, as he argued, they burdened the public with over 200 taxes, eliminated grants, removed electricity subsidies for pensioners, and discontinued water subsidies.

Minister McCoy attributed the APNU+AFC’s current position in the opposition to their lack of vision and creativity. He confidently asserted that Budget 2024 would break barriers and contribute significantly to Guyana’s development.

According to the minister, Budget 2024 provides substantial support for the growth of every sector, fostering an environment that enables the youth to thrive. He emphasized that the allocations outlined in the budget have restored the dignity of the citizens, acknowledging that the transformative process is challenging but vital for progress.

Minister McCoy underscored the inclusivity of Budget 2024, stating that it benefits every citizen in the country, offering enhancements to their lives and families. He assured that the government would maintain an open dialogue with stakeholders nationwide to continually review policies and programs, addressing the nation’s pressing issues.

Minister McCoy represents not only the people of Guyana but also the young people, and he has pinpointed the failures of the previous PNC administration, which did more harm than good for the citizens of Guyana. The voters know well what PPP/C is doing for the country and every Guyanese benefit from the most significant Budget in the History of Guyana. This is just the beginning.

The present PPP/C government is continuing to improve the standard of living of all Guyanese, and this trend will continue.
