Rohit Sharma Makes Big Decision After BCCI’s ‘Play Domestic to Play for India’ Order; No Reply from Virat Kohli: Report

In a major development following the BCCI’s latest directive that all centrally contracted players must participate in domestic cricket if they are not part of the ongoing national team, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has reportedly made a clear decision — he is set to comply with the board’s new rule.

According to reports, Rohit has expressed his willingness to play domestic matches when required, setting an example for other senior cricketers. The BCCI’s new stance, announced recently, aims to ensure that top players stay connected to the domestic circuit and contribute to the growth of Indian cricket at the grassroots level.

However, the situation appears different for Virat Kohli, who has not yet responded to the board’s directive, as per sources. Kohli, who has been on an extended break from cricket after the T20 World Cup, has maintained silence on his plans regarding domestic participation.

The BCCI’s order comes amid growing concerns that senior players often skip domestic tournaments like the Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which are crucial platforms for emerging talent. Board officials have emphasized that consistent participation by star players will boost the standard and visibility of India’s domestic cricket.

While Rohit’s proactive approach has been praised by the board, the absence of a response from Kohli has sparked discussions among fans and cricket experts. Some insiders suggest that BCCI may take a stricter stance in the coming months to ensure all players follow the directive uniformly.

With the domestic season already underway, all eyes are now on how India’s top cricketers align with the board’s expectations — and whether Kohli will soon break his silence on the matter.
