With the weight of a nation’s expectations upon him, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, after taking the oath of office for a second term, declared that the next five years will shape Guyana’s destiny.

Speaking before thousands at  the State House on Sunday — including regional leaders, foreign dignitaries, and citizens eager for direction — President Ali proclaimed, “It is only by standing as one people, united in purpose, that we can rise to meet the magnitude of what lies ahead.”

He presented an ambitious roadmap to transform Guyana into a regional powerhouse, centered on unity, resilience, and collective action.

    Driving Economic Transformation

At the heart of the President’s address was his vision for economic progress. He pledged to harness Guyana’s natural wealth — oil, gold, diamonds, and fertile farmlands — while ensuring environmental responsibility and sustainable growth.

“Our vision is a Guyana as a rising frontier where oil fuels ambition, sugar and rice sustain, and gold and diamonds anchor prosperity,” he said.

The plan includes building seamless infrastructure across regions, delivering first-class healthcare and education, and advancing new urban centers such as Silica City. Technology and innovation will also play a vital role in creating jobs, diversifying the economy, and raising incomes.

    Major Projects on the Horizon

Within six weeks, preparations will begin for transformative projects, including:

    • A new Berbice River Bridge
    • A bridge across the Corentyne River
    • A second gas-to-shore plant in Region 6
    • An Economic Zone in Berbice
    • A deep-water harbour
    • Expansion of the Demerara Harbour
    • The new PPP government has more economic plans for the citizens of Guyana, which are mentioned in the PPP’s manifesto.

“We must invest boldly in infrastructure that underpins growth, creates jobs, and unlocks opportunities for citizens,” President Ali emphasized.

    Social Commitments

The President also promised initiatives to ease citizens’ financial burdens. These include tax reductions, higher disposable incomes, continued direct cash grants, halved electricity costs, and stable water tariffs.

Special programmes will empower women, youth, and the elderly, with plans such as removing taxes on personal health products, expanding daycare facilities, and increasing scholarships and job opportunities.

Education and Health at the Core

In education, President Ali committed to adding 200 new medical and engineering seats across regions and broadening access to training opportunities. Healthcare will be modernized with a citizen-focused system: “Every citizen’s health will be tracked, risk identified, and treatment provided as we roll out a first-class health system.”

    Good Governance and Regional Leadership

The President underscored the need for transparent governance, pledging a strengthened anti-corruption unit, strict asset accountability, and a more efficient public service through digital services and reduced bureaucracy.

On the regional stage, Guyana will deepen CARICOM integration, enhance free movement, strengthen energy security, and boost food production. The diaspora, too, will be engaged as an active partner in national development.

    A Call for Unity

President Ali closed with a heartfelt appeal for unity and transformation, urging Guyanese to look beyond divisions and work toward shared prosperity: “The future is ours to build, and together, we shall rise to meet it.”

The USA government messaged Maduro and others.

While he was addressing thousands of Guyanese, two American F-16 fighter jets flew overhead during President Dr. Irfaan Ali’s swearing-in ceremony.

While the President spoke to the thousands gathered in Georgetown, Guyana, two American F-16 fighter jets flew overhead—not just as a display of strength, but as a deliberate message. Their flyover confirmed Washington’s full acknowledgment of the legitimate election results, leaving no doubt.

It wasn’t just about celebrating democracy—it was a warning shot aimed at those who spread disinformation and manipulate. To Maduro and Venezuela: proceed with caution. The world is watching, and reckless ambition won’t go unanswered.

And to Azruddin Mohamed, still clinging to outdated hopes and threats of sanctions—this is your reality check. The Americans have spoken loud and clear: they’re here, they’re watching, and they will not yield to your delusions.

Let this flyover serve as a reminder—legitimacy cannot be undermined, and playing games with governance will only expose the opposition parties further.

Finally, Dr. Irfaan Ali expressed gratitude to his family, colleagues, and supporters, reaffirming his dedication to leading Guyana into a new era of opportunity.
