It is important to stress that President Dr. Irfaan Ali is dedicated to quickly advancing the projects outlined in the 2025 election manifesto, including those in the Berbice area. It is appropriate to note that Dr. Irfaan Ali is hitting the ground running. The resolve shown by the President since his election victory is evident to the public, and all his ministers understand his vision and mission, fully aware that the President will not tolerate delays. The consequences for those who hinder the country’s economic progress would be severe. The public admires President Dr. Ali’s stance on these issues.
President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali announced plans for what is expected to become one of the fastest-implemented gas-to-shore projects in the world. The government is preparing to launch a second major gas pipeline project—aimed to be completed before 2030—as part of a broader strategy to accelerate industrialization, especially in the rapidly changing Berbice region.
The announcement was made at a reception for visiting UK Parliament member Paulette Hamilton and the UK Trade Mission, where President Ali emphasized the urgency and importance of the upcoming project.
Highlighting the incredible speed required, he stated, “We will have to break every single record in the world.” According to the President, Guyana is getting ready to move this project from idea to construction and completion faster than any other similar gas pipeline project undertaken worldwide.

He added that “Before the end of 2030, the second gas line must be brought ashore, and it will connect to the deep-water port and the entire infrastructure being developed in Berbice. To achieve this, we will have to break every record in the world.”
This second pipeline is poised to play a transformational role by:
- Driving large-scale industrial growth in Berbice
- Supporting petrochemical production, fertilizer manufacturing, LNG processing, agro-processing, and light manufacturing.
- Providing cleaner, more reliable, and cost-effective energy
- Positioning Guyana as the top manufacturing hub in the region
Developed in partnership with ExxonMobil, the initiative will support the 300MW Gas-to-Energy project in Wales, the ongoing nationwide expansion of solar and hydropower, and the comprehensive overhaul of Guyana’s transmission network.
President Ali emphasized that meeting such a tight deadline will require strong international teamwork. He expressed appreciation for the UK’s ongoing support, thanking the UK High Commission and the trade delegation for their dedication to advancing Guyana’s development.
It’s important to note that both President Dr. Irfaan Ali and Vice President and Secretary General of the PPP party, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, are committed leaders who will not accept or tolerate any delays in the country’s economic progress. Their main goal is to fulfill the promises made in the 2025 election manifesto to Guyana’s citizens. No one will distract them from their duty to the nation.
