How these two sanctioned criminals are plotting their secret escape from Guyana to Venezuela because of U.S. extradition threats and ongoing court cases in Guyana, which could lead to both father and son spending many years in prison in the U.S. and Guyana. Both are willing to abandon their current followers and risk their lives to survive, while the Mohamed family would be relaxing and sunbathing in Caracas.
The bad news for Nazar and Azruddin Mohamed is that security forces will be watching them closely, including the USA authorities in Guyana.
The actual victims would be Azruddin’s paid followers in Guyana. These paid individuals would become the subject of ridicule both in Guyana and internationally.
Vice-President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo has exposed one of the most daring and risky plans yet by OFAC-sanctioned gold smuggling leaders Nazar (“Shell”) Mohamed and his son Azruddin — a suspected escape route from Guyana through the Venezuelan Embassy to a third country or a Middle Eastern nation. What was once whispered in political corridors is now spoken openly: the Mohameds, with their financial empire under attack and their reputations in ruins, are preparing to flee to Venezuela.
Dr. Jagdeo’s comments, delivered Thursday at Freedom House, were not casual speculation. They followed increasing intelligence reports, including repeated visits by Nasa Mohamed to the Venezuelan Embassy in Georgetown — a diplomatic outpost for the regime of Nicolás Maduro, Guyana’s most aggressive and dangerous adversary.
“This isn’t about some random citizen visiting an embassy,” Jagdeo emphasized. “This concerns sanctioned individuals, listed in U.S. Congressional warnings, making regular visits to the embassy of a country trying to assert our territory.”
U.S. Congress: The Red Flags Are Flying
The Vice President reminded the press that top members of the U.S. Congress — armed with briefings from their intelligence agencies — have sounded the alarm. Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar warned that sanctioned actors “must not be allowed to jeopardize this vital relationship” between Guyana and the United States. Congressman Carlos Gimenez went further, calling Azruddin Mohamed a “pro-Maduro puppet candidate,” directly linking him to Venezuela’s destabilization playbook.
These are not just words. OFAC sanctions against the Mohameds in June 2024 accused them of under-reporting over 10,000 kilograms of gold from 2019 to 2023, defrauding Guyana of US$50 million in taxes — much of it connected to Venezuela’s illegal economy.
The Sathya Sai Baba connection with President Nicolás Maduro.
But here’s the bitter irony the Mohameds seem blind to. Nicolás Maduro — the man they are cozying up to — is not an ally to the Mohameds. The Venezuelan strongman is a dedicated follower of Hindu spiritual leader Satya Sai Baba, having spent weeks in the Sathya Sai Baba Ashram praying together with his Guru to Lord Shiva in India during his tenure as foreign minister, and subsequently, Maduro’s many visits to India.

Maduro has been loyal to his Guru Sathya Sai Baba for over 30 years. In Hindu culture, a red thread worn on the wrist is a meaningful symbol that provides protection, good luck, and a connection to the Divine. Nicolas Maduro always wears his red thread on his right wrist, symbolizing his devotion to Sathya Sai Baba and Lord Shiva, the divine and supreme being.
This isn’t just a harmless religious quirk. Maduro’s political image depends on cultural spectacle, and he has been known to use personal “flattery diplomacy” to win over those he later betrays. While the Mohameds might think they’re forging a lifeline with Caracas, they could instead be walking into a master manipulator’s trap.
Nicolas Maduro might have shown some sympathy if the Mohameds were followers of Sathya Sai Baba and Lord Shiva, but they are not. Maduro is not as naive or illiterate as the Mohameds. He is unwilling to risk his position vis-à-vis the USA and Guyana due to the involvement of two money launderers and criminals from Guyana.

Our research shows that Maduro is unlikely to risk his presidency over the Mohameds. The Mohameds need to realize they can’t bribe anyone globally, including Maduro, who is a thousand times wealthier than both father and son.
The Alleged Escape Plan
Sources indicate the route under consideration runs from Georgetown, through Venezuelan diplomatic cover, onward to Toronto — a pathway that could theoretically shield them from local arrest warrants but not from international enforcement. “If they think Maduro can save them from U.S. sanctions, they are playing with fire,” one senior political source said. “The Americans will be waiting at the other end.”
Dr Jagdeo was unequivocal: “Prove me a liar in the next five minutes. I will stake my political career on it — Nazar Mohamed has been to that embassy.”
No Return Ticket
For all their wealth, the Mohameds may have badly misread the board. As one security insider put it bluntly: “If Nazar Mohamed leaves through that route, he will never set foot in Guyana again — at least, not as a free man.”
Between Guyana’s legal net, OFAC’s global grip, and a Venezuelan regime that views people as bargaining chips, the Mohameds’ “escape” may end not in freedom, but in permanent exile — or worse.
Final Word:
Guyana is currently defending its sovereignty at the International Court of Justice. Every citizen is aware of Maduro’s intentions toward our territory. For the Mohameds to meet with the Venezuelan ambassador during election season isn’t just suspicious — it’s treachery disguised as diplomacy. In the end, their so-called lifeline to Venezuela could turn out to be nothing more than a noose.
The biggest losers are Azruddin Mohamed’s paid followers, who will take decades to recover from the betrayal by the Mohameds. Take the cash away from Azruddin; he is a nobody in Guyana. With no formal education, Azruddin would struggle to find a job at KFC in Guyana.
This publishing house advises Azruddin’s paid followers to stop supporting this uneducated fool and his WIN party, and instead back the well-established parties in Guyana. The PPP would welcome those whom Azruddin used cash to buy votes from, as well as those who used threats against voters in many regions.
After the general election, the Mohammads will be nobody in Guyana, and they will end up in jail in the USA and Guyana. There is no escape for either father or son. It is not too late for Win paid supporters to leave the uneducated Azruddin Mohamed and vote for PPP, which will look after their economic well-being. It will be Good riddance to Nazar and Azruddin Mohamed.
