Since taking office on August 2, 2020, the PPP/C government has led Guyana through an era of remarkable economic transformation. From day one, the administration began delivering on its manifesto promises, turning vision into action. In just five years, Guyana has witnessed historic progress across all sectors—from infrastructure and healthcare to job creation and economic growth. No previous government has matched the scale and speed of development achieved under the PPP/C.
This success is a testament to the leadership of President Dr. Irfaan Ali, Prime Minister Mark Phillips, Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, and the entire Cabinet. Their commitment to building a better future for all Guyanese is clear and unwavering. The journey continues, and the future of Guyana looks brighter than ever.
Over the past five years, the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) government has initiated a remarkable transformation across Guyana’s social and economic sectors. The citizens of this great nation have witnessed firsthand the tangible benefits of responsible leadership, visionary planning, and national unity.

Let us remind the citizens of Guyana that just five years ago, the PNC/AFC coalition attempted to undermine democracy by refusing to concede defeat in the 2020 general elections. For five long months, they clung to power, disregarding the will of the people—until the international community and our legal institutions intervened and upheld the rule of law. This is a dark chapter we must never forget. A party that disrespects democratic values cannot be trusted with Guyana’s future.
Economic Progress Over the Last 5 Years Under the PPP Government
- Historic Oil Revenue Management: The establishment of the Natural Resource Fund (NRF) has ensured transparency and accountability in the use of oil revenues for the benefit of all Guyanese.
- Massive Infrastructure Development: From new highways to modern bridges and urban upgrades, Guyana is now on a path to becoming a regional transportation hub. New bridges (such as the Demerara River 4-lane fixed bridge) are toll-free, providing free crossings for citizens and enhancing connectivity. Extensive highway networks like Diamond–Ogle and Schoonard–Crane are either built or underway, with millions invested in upgrading internal and rural roads.
- Job Creation & Private Sector Growth: Thousands of new jobs have been created through investments in construction, ICT, agriculture, and energy.
- Enhanced Health Facilities: New hospitals, regional health centers, and better access to medical care are transforming lives throughout the country.
- Education Investments: Free university education by 2025, the distribution of learning materials, and school grants are all part of the government’s investment in future generations.
- Support for Farmers & Agro-Processing: Modernized agricultural programs, financial grants, and improved drainage and irrigation have revitalized the farming community.
- Housing & Land Distribution: Thousands of house lots have been allocated, making homeownership a reality for many families. Nearly 48,000 houses have been designated, fulfilling a key manifesto commitment to affordable housing.
- Expansion of Renewable Energy: Initiatives like the Gas-to-Energy project and solar farms foster a more sustainable, energy-secure Guyana.
- Tourism & Hospitality Growth: Investments in eco-tourism and hotel infrastructure have established Guyana as a leading destination in South America.
- Digital Transformation: Investments in broadband access and digital literacy programs have brought more Guyanese into the digital age, allowing greater access to services and opportunities.
- Healthcare Infrastructure: Twelve new regional hospitals are being built across Guyana, with several already completed and the rest set for completion by 2025. At a Thursday press conference at Freedom House, Vice President and PPP General Secretary Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo announced that six new regional hospitals will open by late August or early September, with the Diamond Regional Hospital set to open this weekend. The facilities are located in Anna Regina, De Kinderen, Diamond, Enmore, Bath, and Skeldon.
- Direct Cash Grants: Since 2021, each school-aged child has received GYD 50,000 (~US$ $250) annually through the “Because We Care” grant, benefiting over 205,000 students in 2024 and costing GYD 9.2 billion.
- Global Standing & Economic Vision: Guyana has transformed from having one of the world’s lowest GDP per capita to boasting some of the highest growth rates in the Caribbean and globally. With an annual growth rate of 25%, the nation is rich in resources and the economic promise it offers to every citizen.
- Pension: Guyana’s Old Age Pension has increased by 14%, moving from $36,000 to $41,000 per month. Government announces $260,000 – $650,000 grant for senior folk not meeting NIS contributions.

The Opposition Parties:
The PNC/AFC opposition parties have just one racial policy to present to voters.
Another presidential candidate, Azruddin Mohamed, is a fraudster, money launderer, and gold smuggler who intends to run for president. Azruddin believes that voters are naïve and will overlook the sanctions from AFAC, the FBI, and the fraud charges in Guyana, where he issued false invoices to the GRA, falsely claiming that he purchased his Lamborghini for USD 75,000. However, in reality, he paid USD 695,000. This is a clear case of fraud, and if found guilty, Azruddin could face several years in prison. It was unwise for Azruddin to publicize his false invoices to the Guyanese people and the Guyanese diaspora, thereby incriminating himself in the eyes of law enforcement authorities.

What policies do the opposition parties propose? Only one policy: racism. They accuse the President and Vice President of racism. Ninety-five percent of Guiana’s citizens understand that the race card will not succeed in the upcoming general elections.
The PPP government has shown its commitment to national development and unity. These achievements are not mere promises; they signify real results and represent the beginning.
In contrast, the opposition parties, including the PNC/AFC, have consistently relied on divisive rhetoric and racially charged politics. They have presented no credible plan for the country’s development. Instead, they aim to undermine national leadership through unfounded accusations and political theatrics.
Let us be clear: the PPP is dedicated to serving all Guyanese, regardless of race, religion, or region. Every citizen deserves an equitable share of the nation’s prosperity, and the PPP government ensures no one is left behind.
As we move forward, let us not be distracted by those who attempted to silence your vote five years ago. The PPP will continue to build a prosperous, united, and democratic Guyana for current and future generations.
The PPP/C government remains dedicated to uplifting every Guyanese. In contrast, opposition parties (PNC/AFC and others) persist in engaging in divisive race politics without providing sustainable solutions.
As Guyana emerges as one of the leading global growth performers, the PPP government reaffirms its commitment to sharing prosperity, developing infrastructure, and ensuring inclusivity. The journey continues—no force can derail this progress.
