Another call for Norton and the PNC-led APNU to reveal election 2020 SoPs

Barefaced” is not enough to describe the renewed attempt by the Opposition, particularly the PNC-led APNU and their sycophants, to accuse the PPP of stealing Elections 2020. They are presently desperately trying to find something to gain sympathy. The Elections 2020 fraud trial of several senior members of the PNC, together with several persons who were senior officials of GECOM, is proving beyond a shadow of doubt that there were unscrupulous attempts to change the results of the elections with numbers for hundreds of polling stations different from the Statements of Poll (SoPs) produced after the count on the night of Elections 2020. In fact, the altered figures amounted to more than 20,000 votes added to the PNC-led APNU/AFC and more than 3000 votes removed from the PPP.
Elections 2020 produced a set of SoPs which verified that the PPP won Elections 2020 by more than 17,000 votes. Elections observers from the Commonwealth, the UNDP, the Organization of American States (OAS), CARICOM, the Carter Center, the EU and local observers were clear that their copies of the SoPs reflected the SoPs that were in the ballot boxes after votes were counted on the evening of September 2, 2025. Everyone agreed that the PPP won Elections 2020, with 33 seats to the Opposition’s 32.
This is yet another call for the PNC-led APNU to reveal its copies of the SoPs. Several members of the AFC had said they saw and have copies of the SoPs. Since they are again insisting that they won Elections 2020 and that the PPP rigged Elections 2020, why are they so afraid to show the world their copies of the SoPs? It is the first time in the history of the world that a party with the “winning” SoPs refuse to let anyone see their copies. Is it because they know that their copies will verify that the SoPs in the ballot boxes and the ones the PPP and others have are all consistent with the same numbers?
The PNC-led APNU, like all political parties which contested Elections 2020, have copies of all the SoPs. They refused in the aftermath of Elections 2020 to show anyone their copies of SoPs. They still refuse to show anyone their copies of the SoPs from Elections 2020. Their copies of the SoPs have become one of the great mysteries in Guyana’s history, one of the most guarded secrets. The question is why is it that the PNC-led APNU and the AFC refuse to show anyone their copies of the SoPs?
Several persons who are no longer members of the PNC or the AFC have been asked if they had seen the copies of the SoPs. Some of them would have seen copies from polling stations where they were working. But these former members have all confessed that their party – the PNC or the AFC – had never shared information with them. They had joined their leaders, accusing the PPP of stealing Elections 2020, without ever having seen the SoPs from Elections 2020. The PNC-led APNU/AFC copies of the SoPs have been guarded like gold at Fort Knox.
The numbers of votes for all political parties in Elections 2020 contained in SoPs in the ballot boxes, and those in the SoPs published by the PPP on Marh 4, 2020, and those that observers had and even those which citizens photographed once they were posted at polling stations were 100 per cent similar. Once a recount of all boxes was done, weeks after the elections, the numbers in the recount SoPs were similar to the numbers in the original SoPs.
The truth about Elections 2020 cannot be changed no matter how many times the Opposition and their sycophants try to change the narrative, try to rewrite history. The PPP and Dr Irfaan Ali convincingly won Elections 2020. The Statement of Polls (SoPs) from Elections 2020 is clear. GECOM’s original SoPs, the copies of those SoPs that all political parties had in their possession and that the Elections Observers had in their possession, clearly showed who won the elections. The recount of all boxes showed that the SoPs in all the boxes corresponded with the SoPs in the possession of GECOM and in the possession of the PPP and the observers. We, therefore, have evidence that the SoPs were authentic.
This is the real reason why the PNC-led APNU/AFC could not share the numbers with their party activists and even leaders who did not see those SoPs then and still have not seen those SoPs.
The trial of senior members of the PNC and senior staff of GECOM for fraud and attempts to rig Elections 2020 is ongoing. It has been a painful sloth. We have been told by a magistrate in another case involving a lead Opposition member who is wanted to face serious criminal charges in America that the court must take its time in the interest of justice and that the wheel of justice must be given the freedom to move at a slower than snail’s pace. The Elections 2020 fraud case is moving at a pace far slower than a snail’s pace. More than six years have elapsed.
But what has been revealed so far leaves no doubt that there were clear attempts to steal Elections 2020 in a conspiracy between senior GECOM staff and senior members of the then PNC-led APNU/AFC. No amount of twisting the testimony of any person during these trials will succeed in rewriting history. The PNC, between 1968 and 1985, rigged five national elections and then tried clumsily in 2020 to do the same. One former CARICOM Prime Minister described the attempt to rig elections in 2020 as the most transparent election rigging attempt he had ever seen. That is our history. That history cannot be rewritten because the world saw it in plain sight.
