Residents of Region Two who require dialysis treatment will soon be able to access the lifesaving service closer to home, as the government moves to operationalise two dialysis chairs at the Lima Regional Hospital.

President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali made the announcement recently while commissioning the Ministry of Health’s new drug bond in Region Two.

He noted that the intervention will spare patients and their families the hardship of travelling to Regions Three and Four for treatment.

The Ministry of Health has already trained the necessary staff and procured the required reagents to begin delivering the service.

According to the president, approximately 12 patients in the region currently travel outside of Region Two to access dialysis.

The president emphasised that the initiative reflects the government’s continued investment in expanding specialised healthcare services countrywide, ensuring quality medical care is accessible regardless of where people live.
