Ghana Leave It Late to Defeat Panama

Ghana secured a dramatic late victory over Panama in one of the most closely contested matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage.

For much of the game, both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances in a tense encounter where defensive organisation took centre stage. Panama worked tirelessly to frustrate the African side, while Ghana searched for a breakthrough that seemed increasingly unlikely as the clock ticked down.

Just when the match appeared destined for a draw, Ghana found the decisive goal in the closing stages. The late strike sparked celebrations among players and supporters alike, earning Ghana a crucial three points in their quest to advance to the knockout rounds.

Although the performance was not their most fluent, Ghana will be delighted with the character and determination shown by the squad. Panama, meanwhile, will feel unfortunate to leave empty-handed after a disciplined display that deserved more reward.

The victory could prove vital as the group stage progresses, with every point carrying enormous significance in the expanded 48-team World Cup format.
