In a shocking incident near Coimbatore Airport, three men accused of raping a 22-year-old college student were arrested by the Tamil Nadu police. According to official reports, the crime took place in a secluded area late at night, and the police launched an intensive search following the victim’s complaint.

Authorities stated that during interrogation, the accused attempted to escape while being taken to the crime scene for evidence collection. In response, officers opened fire in self-defense, shooting the suspects in the leg to prevent their escape. They were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment and remain under police custody.

The victim, who was reportedly returning home from a friend’s place, was abducted by the trio in a vehicle and subjected to sexual assault. The Coimbatore police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including rape and abduction.

Senior police officials confirmed that a special investigation team has been formed to ensure swift justice. The incident has sparked outrage across Tamil Nadu, with citizens demanding stricter measures to protect women’s safety and harsher punishment for offenders.
